State education officials say San Diego-based Thrive charter schools should not be renewed for another five years because of poor academic performance. “Critics, such as the San Diego teachers union and the Oakland-based organization In the Public Interest, have argued that Thrive has grown too quickly at the expense of students.
Thrive intends to grow to more than 1,200 students next school year and to more than 1,400 students in 2023, according to the staff report.”
