California: The potential closure of the Nevada City Charter School has stunned parents. “According to several parents, the low test scores were due to the fact that many students chose not to take examinations. What those same people said they didn’t know, however, was that if students opted out of taking a test, their absence would impact the aggregated test scores of the school and lower their overall standing in comparison with other schools in the area.”
